-
- 1. When did you do all this gaming?
-
- We played starting in April 1989, and the campaign lasted until
- early 1991, when several players graduated and moved away at once.
-
-
-
- 2. Where did you do it?
-
- This all happened at the Georgia Institute of Technology...
- where the engineers of tommorrow are created today :) This
- place is in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. For the record, much food,
- drink, and alcohol were consumed during most of these games.
-
-
-
- 3. Who did the gaming and which character(s) did they play?
- What were their majors? Where are they now?
-
- Ged - Ashley Bone EE (fall 1993)
- Belphanior - Rick Glotzbach CS '91 (Atlanta)
- Halbarad - Andrew Hackett PHYS '91 (Atlanta?)
- Peyote - Kenneth Lightner SOC '91 (Atlanta?)
- Alindyar - Marc Lindsell ARCH '90 (San Fran.)
- Mongo - Jim Morse CS '91 (Atlanta)
- Rillen - Mark Rillen CHE '92 (Rome, Ga.)
- Peldor - Marc Robert AE '92 (Atlanta)
-
- the DM (me) - Thomas Miller EE '93 (Atlanta)

- 4. How many stories are there? Are there any more coming?
-
- The story count recently jumped over 100. I continue to write
- them, at a minimum of one per week. The adventures played by the
- party should conclude with part 130 or so (estimate). When that
- happens, several options will be examined; the most likely one is
- that I'll ask for ideas/modules/scenarios from the readers, and
- choose which ones to run the party through. This would be a lot
- of fun...
-
-
-
- 5. Do I have to ftp all the stories or are there collections?
-
- There are collections; they're in the directory where you found
- the file you're reading right now. They are titled as "book1",
- "book2", etc. See the file x.README, also in this directory.
-
-
-
- 6. How long did it take you to do all this gaming? (connected to Q1)
-
- Total time was a shade under 2 years. Each adventure was usually
- played out in one night, typically from about 8 pm to about 2 am
- but sometimes later.
-
-
-
- 7. How long did it take to do all the writing?
-
- On a good day, I produce 15K of quality material in about three
- hours. Proofreading takes up more time, especially if I use more
- people than just myself to do it (and I do). An important point
- to note is that, now that I'm a full-timer, I don't deal with the
- stories at all during working hours (whereas before, I could write
- them during the day on a terminal or at home) - time is too short
- to write every night, or else we'd be on part 400 by now.
-
-
-
- 8. How extensive were your game notes?
-
- Fairly extensive. It's important to keep in mind, though, that
- I knew all the players and thus am now able, after the fact, to
- know what they would say and do in a variety of situations. Much
- of the dialogue is made up on the fly, while keeping to the basic
- events that actually happened. To put it simply: the combats in
- the stories are probably not identical to those that actually
- happened, but the outcomes of those combats are.
-
-
-
- 9. Has the group disbanded (the players, not the characters).
-
- Yes. The players of Belphanior, Halbarad, Peyote, Alindyar,
- Mongo, and Rillen have graduated and have real jobs. Peldor is
- entering grad school in fall of 1993. Ged will graduate that fall
- too. I myself am now an alumnus _and_ a faculty/staff at GT.
-
-
-
- 10. How many pages/K/characters/lines are there total?
-
- As of part 102, the saga is up to 2.017 Mb. For the record, a
- full printout of all the parts spans about 4 inches of double-
- sided 8.5" x 11" paper.
-
-
-
- 11. How come Peldor is doing stuff now that he used to need his
- sword for (e.g. invisibility) ?
-
- He gained some powerful magical feathers while in the Underdark.
- These feathers have since become tattoos, and the bulk of the party
- is unaware of their existence. See the end of part 90 for details.
-
-
-
- 12. Does Peldor have the tattoos visible or what?
-
- Yes, they are visible as a cluster of small feather tattoos on
- his upper chest, should he ever have occasion to remove his shirt.
-
-
-
- 13. Will the soulless body (forgot the char name) ever return?
-
- That would be Bosco. His soul was never found during the course
- of the adventures we actually played. However...see #4 above.
-
-
-
- 14. Do you still play (with others, since obviously the group has
- disbanded)?
-
- Not much, not much at all. No time, you see...
-
-
-
- 15. Do you still stay in contact with the old members?
-
- Absolutely. In fact, a one-time reunion seems plausible,
- during GT's homecoming next fall. More on this as it comes
- to be.
-
-
-
- 16. Tell us about the author.
-
- Hmm. Born in 1969, aced everything in high school, but didn't
- come close to acing everything in college. Likes driving fast
- and recklessly, watching extremely violent movies, lifting weights
- and running, drinking occasionally, ogling women, hard rock/heavy
- metal music, Italian food. Drives a 1983 280zx Turbo nicknamed
- "Death Howler" because it never runs well. Wants to drive another
- Toyota Supra like the one he used to have until someone totalled
- it for him. Has an overactive imagination at times. Also has a
- nasty temper, more often than not. Does network support at Ga.
- Tech from 8-5 EST.
